HIPP Notice: What is it and How it Affects Employers

The California Department of Health Care Services requires employers with 20 or more employees to provide the Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) notice, DHCS 9061, to terminating employees covered under the program.  

Health Insurance Premium Payment program notice (HIPP): HIPP is a program in which the California Department of Health will provide health coverage for an individual with a high-cost medical condition.  If an employee resigns or is terminated, the employer must provide information regarding HIPP along with the COBRA notification.
